This podcast is the mentor you never knew you needed! Hosted by Dr. Diandra Renee, a trained researcher and lawyer, artist, and activist (as a PhD/JD she knows the behind the scenes of success as a Black woman), this podcast will focus on the behind the scenes journey of success and not just the outcome. Driven While Black Podcast will get to the transformative journey of the person behind the success, unveiling the tools of resilience, perseverance, and strength, normalizing the winding journey that ultimately leads to success as a Black person in America. This season is all about Black Lawyers!

why black lawyers?
Black lawyers are necessary for justice.
“Simply put, representation matters. Diversity in all its dimensions, including gender, ethnicity, economic status, and race, matters because the law and the legal system touch all parts of our society. If our laws and justice system continue to be shaped by the few, [they] will continue to only serve the few and engender respect from even fewer.” She added, “Black lawyers are critical to constructing a justice system that serves all people. [The] very presence of Black lawyers in courtrooms, judges’ chambers, or press conferences countered ugly stereotypes justifying racial subordination.” -EJW CEO Verna Williams,
Less than 5% of all lawyers are African American – the same percentage as 10 years earlier – but the U.S. population is 13.4% African American.
